I recall the early process of sharing content online, perhaps it could be called an early version of “Controlled Serendipity“, usually it was only among family and friends, a video here, a joke there. Most of the time it was either shocking or unusual, rarely did I pass along news for its own sake. All that started to change when I started getting breaking news from the different local and national news sources. It only made sense to pass it along to my network of family and friends. Eventually I started sending information to everyone on my e-mail list (notice I said e-mail), and it wasn’t being sent back. So I continued, then along came Facebook and then Twitter and suddenly the process opened up. No longer was my controlled-serendipity confined, suddenly I could reach out and touch everyone within the expanse of my high-speed connection. Such was the travel from controlled infancy to controlled puberty.
